Petrified Forest National Park

“Petrified”

Inspired by Petrified Forest National Park, Fall 2013

I made a brief visit to Petrified Forest National park just before sunset and was struck by the beauty of the petrified trees.

Demos

10/11/2015

I’ve been feeling this song lately so I worked on a demo snippet.

I added a brief intro, fixed a bad bass note and started getting it ready for the next part of the song.

Lyrics

(Capo on 3)

C D
You petrify my heart
G Em
Or was it was broken from the start
C D
You buried it in dirt
G Em
It turned so hard it cannot hurt
C D
Covered by silt and sand
G Em
I’m no longer a man
C D
You petrify my heart
G
It’s gone

Shimmer in the moonlight
No one visits in the cool night
Lonely heart out in the grassland
Turned to precious stone

Heart like a stone
Buried alone
Petrified for future fun
But visited by no one

Maybe scientists will know what to do

You petrify my heart
It was broken from the start
Now it glistens in the sun
But the sun goes down and the night is cold

You petrify my heart
It was broken from the start
The scientists now say we found a fossil
