2016 was the National Park Service’s 100th birthday and it inspired me to write “Happy Birthday 100 Times” during a visit to Yellowstone on the actual day (August 25, 2016).
Today, on the National Park Service’s 101st birthday, I’m sharing this video from June 2017 in Denali.
Denali (then known as Mount McKinley) became a National Park in 1917, a year after the NPS was established, and they’ve been celebrating their centennial all year. During a visit this Summer, Molly McGown and I performed “Happy Birthday 100 Times” at the top of the Eielson Alpine Trail.
A permit was obtained from the NPS for the creation and use of this video.
